Combing through the website and Instagram feed is only the beginning. The next step is setting up a time to get to know one another, discuss your needs in detail, and discuss pricing estimates.
Your vision and timeline are important to us. We are here to answer any questions you have and provide a proposal detailing the work we will complete. When you're ready to move forward, a signed agreement and retainer are needed to reserve a space for you in the design queue.
The questionnaire is an important step to the process. It is our guide in helping us gather information and inspiration from our clients.
Through our conversations and questionnaire, our time will be spent sketching, drawing, testing materials, and curating our design details for your first round of proofs.
Once there’s an approval of the proofs, we will send the final invoice and production will move forward. Turnaround time varies for each suite.
Your order will arrive to you with all of the pieces packaged separately in order for them to be assembled. We’re happy to offer assembly and mailing services for an additional fee.

Once an estimate is approved, the design and printing process takes on average 6-8 weeks. Certain upgrades or printing types may alter the production time, but we will keep you abreast of the timeline.
Letterpress printing is the oldest printing method. It uses a raised, ink covered plate and is pressed into the paper. We suggest using this method if you want thick paper, a tactile piece, and a subtle look. It is best for designs that do not have very large areas of solid color.
Foil stamping uses a metal plate with heat to imprint foil onto paper. Foil can be either shiny or matte. We suggest using foil if you want a true metallic (shiny) color or if you want to print a light color on dark paper. It is slightly more expensive than letterpress.
Digital printing is a method of printing your text or image straight from the computer onto paper, no plates involved. Your ink lies flat on the paper so you don’t have the tactile quality of letterpress or foil stamping. This is the least expensive and fastest of the printing methods. As opposed to letterpress or foil stamping, there is no additional fee to print a second, third or fourth ink color. We suggest using it for day-of pieces (programs, menus, etc) or for designs that incorporate many colors and/or photographs.
We offer letter press printing, digital printing and foil stamping. In addition, we can do extra embellishments like colorful edging and die-cutting.
While our office is based in northern Virginia, BGSD prides itself on being able to accommodate our clients globally. In fact, most of our clients have never met with us in person, but the experience still makes them feel connected.
BGSD is here to help through every stage of the process. We will work with you to develop a design direction and further refine in subsequent design rounds.
