If you are looking for an affordable base from which to explore Somerset, Devon, Exmoor or more locally still the Brendon Hills, by foot, bicycle or even on horseback then the Bothy at Deepleigh Barn is an ideal place to be. Catering for the adventurous, this one-off detached self-contained annex is within the charming garden of your hosts, enjoying glorious views and a sunny aspect. The peace and tranquillity are broken only by the sound of birdsong, the horses which are stabled next door and if you are lucky, a couple of times a year by a flock of sheep passing along Deepleigh Lane! The hamlet of Deepleigh consists of just three houses on an unsurfaced road where safe parking is available.
Deepleigh is situated one mile from Wiveliscombe, accessible via a number of footpaths, or by road. Wiveliscombe is an interesting working town, home to two breweries which have replaced the historic Hancock's Brewery, the red bricked chimneys of which are visible from far and wide. There is an excellent butcher, a delicatessen, two small supermarkets, various 'curio shops' which will always yield a birthday card or present, and a choice of cafes, eateries and public houses. The 'local' is the Three Horseshoes in Langley Marsh, good for food and local ales, an easy five minute walk away.
